Resources
- The NOC Forum is a great resource for learning about native orchids, sharing information and asking questions. Regulars on the forum range from enthusiastic amateurs to leading scientist in the field. Like NOC itself, the forum has members from all over North America and many countries around the world.
- The photos section of this website contains hundreds of photos of 65 genera of orchids found in the U.S. and Canada. While not a substitute for field guides (and knowledgable guides in the field), the photo galleries are a good resource for becoming familiar with the range of orchid species in this part of the world.
- Canada's Orchid Status This site, maintained by the Canadian Endangered Species Conservation Council (CESCC), lists each orchid species for the country and gives its status by province.
- North American Flora - Volume 26: Liliidae: Liliales and Orchidales Web connection to the December 2002 release of the NA Flora volume on orchids. By using "hot links" on the site, you can go down to species level information.
- The American Orchid Society website is an extensive web resource on orchids including native orchids. The monthly AOS magazine "Orchids" is one of the premier publications on orchids. Look for articles by NOS members in coming issues.
- Tools for Plant Identification A web site that features an image glossary that includes Orchidaceae anatomy, a video tutorial on interactive key usage and, many different interactive keys to the Orchidaceae (only Platanthera at the moment).
- Conservation Research Link to a U of FL web site that outlines research work being done to propogate, conserve and restore some of our native orchid species. Members of our group who are invloved include Scott Stewart, Michael Kane, and Phil Kauth.
